Hearing Voices and Ringing in the Ears

There it is

The ringing in the ears

And through that ringing

I hear the voices speaking

The invisible intruders

Their voices are faint

Yet there’s a sharpness to them

They pierce right through

The quiet of the night

And that ringing

That ringing that has often

Accompanied these voices that I hear

I remember hearing it

Back in the early days

Back when this oppression first started

How intense that ringing in the ears was back then

I remember thinking to myself

That it seemed like the sound

Of my mind shattering

Into a thousand pieces

Since those days

The ringing comes and goes

I most often hear these voices

With no accompanying ringing at all

Yet it always seems to return

It always comes back around

It can happen at any time

Day or night

And I am hearing it this night

Right at this very moment
